Salon Owners United – Membership Terms & Conditions
Effective on the purchase of any membership plan or on registration for any free membership.
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your membership of Salon Owners United (“SOU”, “we”, “our”, “us”). By applying for membership, paying membership fees, or accessing any SOU services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
- Nature of Membership
1.1 SOU is a business support organisation providing resources, networking, events, and general business guidance to UK salon owners.
1.2 Membership is not intended to and shall not be construed as providing legal, financial, accounting, tax, employment, health & safety, or other regulated professional advice.
1.3 All information, materials, and services provided by SOU are for general information and guidance only. Members remain fully responsible for their own compliance, decision-making, and business outcomes.
- Legal Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
2.1 SOU, its directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, partners, and representatives (together “SOU Representatives”) accept no responsibility for any loss, damage, liability, claim, cost, or expense arising out of or in connection with:
- reliance on information, resources, or advice provided through membership.
- use of any template, policy, tool, or calculator.
- attendance at or reliance on training sessions, webinars, or events.
- third-party services, suppliers, or offers introduced via SOU.
2.2 SOU does not warrant that any service or information provided is accurate, complete, or up to date.
2.3 To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- SOU excludes all implied terms, warranties, and conditions;
- SOU shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, contracts, goodwill, data, or reputation;
- SOU’s total liability in contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise shall not exceed the membership fee paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.
2.4 Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability which cannot lawfully be excluded.
- Indemnity
3.1 You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SOU and SOU Representatives from and against all claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or related to your membership, use of services, or breach of these Terms.
- Membership Term & Renewal
4.1 Membership runs for a minimum fixed period of twelve (12) months from the date of acceptance.
4.2 Membership automatically renews for successive 12-month periods unless cancelled in writing by giving at least 30 days’ notice prior to renewal.
4.3 Membership fees are payable annually in advance (or monthly if agreed) and are non-refundable, except as required by law.
4.4 SOU reserves the right to refuse or terminate membership without refund in cases of:
- non-payment;
- breach of these Terms;
- misconduct or actions likely to damage SOU’s reputation;
- misuse of services or resources.
- Membership Fees & Payment
5.1 Current fees are displayed on the SOU website and may be revised from time to time.
5.2 Payment must be received before membership services are activated.
5.3 SOU reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership if fees are overdue.
- Services & Benefits
6.1 Membership benefits include access to online resources, templates, webinars, training, networking, and discounts with selected partners.
6.2 SOU reserves the right to amend, withdraw, or substitute benefits at its discretion.
6.3 SOU may use third-party suppliers to provide services. SOU is not responsible for the performance, advice, or conduct of such suppliers.
6.4 Discounts, offers, or third-party services may be subject to separate terms and conditions.
- Member Conduct
7.1 Members must act with respect towards SOU staff, representatives, and other members. Abusive, discriminatory, or defamatory behaviour will not be tolerated.
7.2 Membership benefits are granted to the named member business only and may not be transferred, sold, or shared.
7.3 SOU resources, templates, and materials are licensed for use within the member’s business only and may not be copied, distributed, or used for commercial resale.
- Intellectual Property & Enforcement
8.1 All content, documentation, guides, templates, resources, branding, training materials, and other materials provided by SOU (collectively “SOU Content”) remain the sole and exclusive property of SOU. All intellectual property rights, whether registered or unregistered, are reserved.
8.2 SOU grants members a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use SOU Content strictly for their own internal business purposes during the period of active membership.
8.3 Members must not, without SOU’s prior written consent:
- Copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, transmit, sell, rent, sub-licence, or otherwise make SOU Content available to any third party;
- Use SOU Content for the purpose of creating derivative works, competing products, or services;
- Exploit SOU Content for commercial purposes outside their own business.
8.4 Any unauthorised use, sharing, or reproduction of SOU Content will result in immediate suspension or termination of membership, without refund, and may give rise to legal proceedings including (but not limited to) claims for damages, injunctions, and recovery of legal costs.
8.5 SOU reserves the right to monitor usage of its resources to ensure compliance with these Terms.
- Cancellation & Termination
9.1 Members may cancel at the end of the initial 12-month period (and thereafter at the end of each renewal period) by giving 30 days’ written notice.
9.2 Early cancellation within the minimum term does not entitle the member to a refund of fees.
9.3 SOU may terminate membership immediately where:
- fees remain unpaid;
- the member breaches these Terms;
- conduct is considered inappropriate or harmful to SOU.
- Data Protection & Communications
10.1 SOU will process members’ personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws and our Privacy Policy [insert link].
10.2 By joining, members consent to receiving communications relating to membership services, events, and offers. Members can opt out of non-essential marketing at any time.
- Amendments to Terms
11.1 SOU may update these Terms from time to time. Notice of significant changes will be given, and continued membership constitutes acceptance of revised Terms.
- Governing Law & Disputes
12.1 These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England & Wales.
12.2 Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England & Wales.
12.3 Before commencing legal proceedings, both parties shall attempt to resolve disputes through good faith discussion.
- Entire Agreement
13.1 These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between SOU and the member in relation to membership and supersede all previous agreements, understandings, and representations.
